Bryn Parry is one of Britain's best known countryside cartoonists. His cartoons appear in The Field and The Shooting Gazette each month and he has illustrated countless products with his witty, detailed and perceptive pictures. His cartoons capture the fun and frustration felt by field sportsmen as they enjoy their sport with their not so faithful canine companions. Bryn followed family tradition on leaving school and joined the Army, serving ten years in the Royal Green Jackets before deciding to leave and make a living from the somewhat less traditional career of cartooning. Undaunted by constant rejection of his early works, he taught himself to picture frame and earned a subsistence living by caricaturing Regimental Messes in the tradition of Snaffles. A cartoon of the Lloyd's building that upset the committee but amused the inhabitants, led to City commissions and then to cartoons of shooting. This book, Mad Dogs and Englishmen, is a collection of Bryn's shooting and dog cartoons.
